The reality is that we are living in a world of finite resources, with many countries living a lifestyle that consumes far more raw materials than can be sustained in the long-term – the US alone lives a ‘5 planet’ lifestyle (WWF research).
Against this background, the ever increasing tax regime employed by governments throughout the world has made wine a genuine luxury item for most. Consumers therefore have to think long and hard before parting with their hard earned cash in order to enjoy a good wine.
In my own small way, I am delighted to be working with producers who have a genuine long-term commitment towards sustainable wine farming, no matter how this may manifest itself.
